Wealth in the world in 2021

Is it fair that 12% of the world’s individuals own 85% of the wealth?

Wealth measures the value of all the assets of worth owned by a person, community, company, or country. Essentially, wealth is the accumulation of scarce resources.

“Wealth has little to do with savings in the usual sense. Rather it is the result of capital gains

— especially the increased value of land — and an increase in the capitalized value

of other [economic] rents [any payment in the context of a market transaction].” (Stiglitz, 2014)
